Metro - Entertainments

London has been called a ‘world in one city’, it is enthralling, cosmopolitan and home to the highest concentration of major attractions in Britain. From the culture and sophistication of the theatre, to the escapism of the 'silver screen', the capital offers a multitude of entertainment venues.

London is Europe’s biggest market for leisure and entertainment, at the heart of the capital is Theatreland, the largest theatre district in the world. This corner of London’s West End is home to over 40 of London’s 150 theatres. In 2010 and for the seventh year running box office revenue increased, reaching over £516 million with attendances topping 14 million.

Londoners work longer hours than adults from any other region in the UK, meaning leisure time is of massive importance and the number and variety of venues and attractions is not a luxury, but a necessity. To put this into perspective 1 in 3 Londoners have been to a gig in the last 12 months.

Appearing every Thursday and Friday, our 'Going Out' pages provides readers with ideas and recommendations on how to spend their leisure time as well as showcasing upcoming events across the capital. These pages provide the platform to reach a young cash rich urbanite audience.
